Christmas in Paris : Christmas markets, Grande Roue, Vitrines, Skating Rinks…

Christmas holidays have started. What doing, how occupying the children, how enjoying the Parisian festivities ? Here are some advice :

1. The Parisian Christmas markets

Twenties of markets welcome you in Paris : wood chalets, warm wine, stands of wood toys, santons, regional food, ideas of presents (more than the ones I already suggested!).
There is the Christmas market at the Champs Elysées, always very crowded – better to go during the week days – but which offers a nice view of the prettiest avenue all over the world. Open until January 6th 2013.
Others have to be visited too : those in Notre-Dame, Saint-Germain des Prés…
For more markets go on

2. The Grande Roue

A wonderful view on Paris, the illuminations, the Eiffel Tower. You have vertigo ? So do I ! But I can assure you that the show worths the trouble. Take your courage in your hands, held yourself, don’t look below and enjoy the view. You don’t regret it !
Métro Concorde.
Price : 10€ and 5€ for under 10 children.

3. Les Vitrines des Grands Magasins

An enchantment for children and parents, a walk for lovers hand in hand in front of the decorated windows… However and who you see them with you have to see the illuminations once a year : songs, singing and dancing puppets, scenes… No matter your age – 5, 25, 55 or 98 – for sure you will have stars in your eyes… And that is no price for that !
To keep the fairy going on don’t leave without seeing the wonderful Christmas tree in the Galeries Lafayette (the picture opposite MissaParis already gives a nice first view).

4. The Parisian Staking Rinks

Out of the well known one in front of the Hotel de Ville, Paris offers far more other possibilities to put on ice skates : the Grand Palais (not tested yet, but I have to!), Champs Elysées and others !
Numbers of places to enjoy winter in Paris !
Prices vary : from free (for the skating rink in Charletty or the one at the Hotel de Ville – but you have to pay for the rent of the ice skates) to 12€ for the access to the Grand Palais.

5. Les Rues Parisiennes
Walk, meander, roam… Look up, marvel yourself ! Christmas is everywhere, you just have to pay attention !
