“Simon from République”: it is how I nickname the singer who cheers almost all my mornings up, when I take the subway at the République station. Each morning while we still have the souvenir of our very cosy duvet, the irrepressible envy to go back in the bed… Simon is right here, always in a good mood, singing at the top of his voice with his guitar and his spirit!
He has been singing on my way for several months, and it is only today that I visited his myspace page.
Simon Carrière (it’s his real name) is 26 and comes from Grenoble (in the South-East of France) … so how did he make to sing in the subway? Arrived 6 months ago in the French capitale, he passed with verve auditions to be an official subway singer “to push the light-hearted song and try to make smile people in the Parisian undergrounds”… well he has already managed to give rise to a first morning smile on my lips, and it is something !
A mix of Aldebert and Renan Luce (two French singers), a new version of the Chistmas song “Petit Papa Noël”, an obvious generosity (by his music but also because he reversed for Haïti the 136 euros and some cents he got from people in the metro last Wednesday) and passion for his music and his public, us, anonymous crowd of late Parisians!
