"L’Epicerie", Montorgueil and the new quest of MissaParis

What is nice when you are MissaParis, that is you make a lot of discoveries ! What becomes difficult, that is when MissaParis is asked to find THE restaurant which will make a reunion lunch a Parisian moment not like the others.

MissParis is stuck. Not that she knows no address but she has to discover new places to make you them discovered better …

So, on last Saturday I told myself I would bring my friends in a quarter I like and where I had never tested any restaurant…

Montorgueil ! You know it ? A street like a village in the center of Paris. Cobblestones, shopkeepers, stalls of cheese, cooked meats, a baker famous in all the little Paris, terrasses full even in winter…

Lack of luck, the restaurants in the corner of the Tiquetonne street were close. We go up the street, nothing tempts us. It’s 1:30 pm and our stomacs are starving. We go down the street all the way to the Halles.

And here is “L’Epicerie”. From the outside, nothing extraordinary. Inside, warm colors, big wood tables decorated with seasoning, quite comfortable chairs, old advertising posters on the walls…

The menus arrive… and the gourmandes we are have some difficulties to choose what will be in our plates in a few minutes !

Tartare of tuna and its little vegetables, salad of gizzards and duck filets, pickled salmon and its toasted bread… Still place for a desert ? You should better!

Charlotte with red berries and its coulis, crunchy biscuit with apples and its vanilla ice cream, and the must, the very melting chocolate fondant on its sea of crème anglaise…

The bill ? Not so expensive ! Around 20 € per person.

Conclusion ? MissaParis has chosen the quarter, the  gourmandes the restaurant and here is a new discovery for the gourmande I am and for you, dear readers…

  1. Merci MissaParis – très tentant, et j’adore la façon dans quelle tu écris. J’ai l’impression que j’ai eu un petit cour de français après chaque lecture de tes billet ! Merci encore, et c’est pour quand notre prochain cour d’anglais ! ;-D
