Le Louvre in a few numbers…

After listening to a broadcast on France Info Radio about Le Louvre last week, I told myself MissaParis could devote an article not to the entire museum but at least to some numbers about it… Here are some :

– 1190 : Start of the building of the Louvre
– 1793 : Opening of the Museum central of Arts
– 1871 : Fire of the Louvre  during the Commune of Paris
– 1989 : Inauguration of the Pyramide
– 40 hectares of land
– 60 000 square meters of exhibition rooms
– 180 000 square meters with the stockrooms
– Until 5 meter thickness of walls
– 35 000 pieces of art exhibited
– 2 satellite museums : the Louvre-Lens and the Louvre-Abou Dabi
– 10 € : entrance price
–  0 € : free for everyone on the 1st Sunday of the month
– 5 € : renting price for the new prix audioguide Nintendo 3DS

Of course the best is to visit the Louvre !
